In many cases, pigmentation is caused by the genes you get from your family. For example, if you have dark circles under your skin or if the sides of your lips are darker than other parts of your face. Then you have any family members with this issue.

  • Melasma 

It is common for women to go through hormonal changes like in contraceptive pills or pregnancy. It can occur in your cheeks or jawline. 

There are other reasons for pigmentation like if you get any scar, that area will be darker, hyper-pigmentation occurs due to side effects of some medical, due to rubbing you gave too much, lack of sleep, stress etc.

If you need a permanent removal of pigmentation, you should know how to prevent it. So here are some tips to avoid pigmentation on your skin. 

  • Use Sunscreen

You should use sunscreen no matter what. Apart from summer, we generally avoid sunscreen. But drag yourself in front of the mirror and apply sunscreen on your skin. Hence, It doesn’t matter what season. You should always use sunscreen to avoid sun damage. 

  • Vitamin C is the Key

Vitamin C is a well-known Antioxidant and critical ingredient to avoid pigmentation. You can apply it to your face or consume it. Try to add fruits like papaya, orange, kiwi to your diet as these fruits have higher levels of vitamin c. It keeps your skin healthy and helps control excess Melanin production.

To do this method, take a small bowl, then take 1 tablespoon of ACV and 1 tablespoon of water. After that, using a cotton ball, apply the mixture to the pigmented area of your face. Stay it for 2-3 minutes, then clean it off with water. So what do you think, easy, right? Do this method once a day, and you can see the result within a month.

Turmeric and Yoghurt

Turmeric is one of the popular forms of skincare. While growing up, you must have heard from your mother and grandmother that turmeric is beneficial for your skin. And they are right about it. Turmeric has many antioxidants and antibacterial properties, which protects from bacteria, reduce unwanted pigmentation and revive the glow of your skin. And yoghurt has anti-fungal properties that break down the impurities from your skin and moisturises your skin. 

Take a small bowl to add 3 tablespoons of yoghurt and 1 tablespoon of turmeric. Make a thick paste by thoroughly combining all of the ingredients. Apply it to the pigmented regions now. Leave it for 5-10 minutes after massaging it circularly. Then wipe it down with a moist cloth. And then you can see the magic. You can use aloe vera gel on the pigmented area of your face, then wash it after 10 minutes. And if you want, you can keep it overnight and wash it off in the morning. It’s your choice. Sometimes, it doesn’t suit someone’s face, so remember to patch test before you apply it on your face. 

Tomato and Yoghurt Paste 

You may not know, but tomatoes are perfect for your skin. Tomatoes are high in antioxidants and include vitamin C. They are acidic, ideal for bleaching off hyperpigmentation and cleaning the pores. And we’ve already discussed how helpful yoghurt is. It has lactic acid, which is a natural bleaching agent. It removes any dark patches from your skin, nourishes your skin and makes it look flawless. So together, they create a perfect mixture to reduce pigmentation. 

First, you need to blend a small tomato and throw away the seeds before bending it. Then put it into a small bowl and add 2 tablespoons of yoghurt. Mix it thoroughly, then. Apply the paste on pigmentated are or all over your face, then leave it for 10-15 minutes. Then, you can clean it off with water.

Scientifically it is proven that green tea can drastically reduce hyper-pigmentation. Green tea contains an antioxidant called catechins. It breaks down hyper-pigmentation and reduces redness or irritation on your skin. However, it’s better to use a green tea extract rather than a teabag.

First, you need to steep a green tea bag in boiling water for 5-6 minutes to apply this method. You see the colour of the water changing totally. Then remove the tea bag and let the tea water cool down or keep it in the refrigerator. Also, don’t burn your face. Then, using a cotton ball, gently touch the pigmented regions. It will do wonders for your skin. If there is more tea water left, keep it in the refrigerator and use it whenever you like. If possible, repeat this method twice a day. 

Raw Potato and Lemon

Potatoes and lemons both have a lot of benefits. I can’t just make french fries out of potatoes. You also use it in your skincare routine. Potatoes contain iron and vitamin c. It helps reduce any pigmentation on your face and moisturise your skin and prevent inflammation. Lemon also contains vitamin c and is known as a natural bleach. Its antioxidants reduce skin damage irritation and lighten the pigmented areas of your skin. Therefore, I hope you understand how beneficial these ingredients are. 

Take a small bowl and now grate a small potato. You can strain the potato juice through a sieve if you want it liquid. Then add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Mix it, then apply the potato and lemon mixture to the dark area of your face. Leave it for 20-30 minutes. After it dries out, wipe it off with a wet towel. Do this every day for a month or two to get the best result.

Mashed Papaya

Papaya is loaded with vitamins and good properties. Papaya works as an Exfoliation for your skin, reduce skin impurities, brings out the glow of your face and help you get rid of pigmentation. 

You need 3 tablespoons of mashed papaya or grated to do this method. And use it all over your face, as it removes pigmentation and brings a glow to your face. You may also combine it with milk or curd. Leave it for 15-20 minutes, then rinse it off with water. So, you should try this method.
