8 Beauty DIY for Glowing Skin in Winter Season

Introduction

Winter can be a fun time to stay inside, be cozy, and drink warm stuff. But winter isn’t as easy on your skin as fun it is for you. Winter makes your skin drier and takes away its glow. That’s why you need to take special care of your skin in the winter months. It doesn’t have to be too hard though, we’ve got you the 8 Beauty DIY for Glowing Skin in Winter Season. You can use these tips and get glowing skin from the comfort of your own home.

Turmeric

Turmeric

You may already have a bottle of turmeric in your home to use in curries. Did you know, the same turmeric that gives your curries its beautiful vibrant color can also give you bright, glowing skin this winter.

Turmeric has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which can not only help protect your skin from microbial attacks but also reduce the inflammation due to acne. It can also enhance collagen production which keeps our skin nice, supple, and elastic.

Mix a couple of pinches of turmeric along with a little bit of milk or water to make a thick paste. If you can find raw turmeric then that is even better, but the store-bought powder version also works just as well. Apply the paste on your face and neck and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Wash it off and see your skin glow.

Honey

Well-moisturized and well-hydrated skin tend to have a healthy glow to it, and honey is an excellent moisturizer. Not only can honey help you lose weight, but it can also give your skin that beautiful healthy glow that you desire all winter.

Honey is also one of the ingredients that possess anti-bacterial properties, so it can help you get rid of skin problems like acne and pimples. Less acne and pimples mean less of the acne and pimple scars that bring down the brightness of your skin. Using honey regularly on your skin can help you get smooth and spotless skin for the long term.

Milk

Milk

Not only can milk be used as a whitener for your tea and coffee, but you can also use milk to brighten up your skin this winter. Milk has lactic acid in it, which is a mild form of acid and it can help brighten up your skin’s complexion up a bit.

Yogurt has a bit more lactic acid in it as it is basically fermented milk and as you know fermentation leads to an increase in the amount of lactic acid in a product.

Milk also has the ability to control the level of Tyrosine in our skin. Tyrosine is a hormone that controls the melanin that contributes to the darkening of the skin. Milk can brighten up your skin by controlling the hormone which is why it is so effective.

You can mix milk with any skin-benefiting ingredients like besan, turmeric, or just plain old wheat flour to make a thick paste and apply it to your face and neck. As long as you are not lactose intolerant, you can use milk on other parts of your body too. Remove the paste after about 15 minutes and use it at least twice a week if you want to see amazing results.

Lemon

You may either hate or love the sour and strong flavor of a lemon, but you won’t be able to resist putting it on your skin when you learn about its skin benefits.

Lemon and other fruits in the lime family are rich in Vitamin C and citric acid. So, not only can they help us fight scurvy, but they can also be quite effective at getting rid of dull and dark skin. It can simultaneously moisturize and lighten your skin. But it is quite strong so be a little bit careful when using it on your face. Mix it with other ingredients rather than applying it straight to your face.

Lemon can be a great scrub for your ankles and knees too. Take a piece of lemon and put some salt or sugar on it. Rub it lightly on your knees and elbows for a minute or two. Wash it off with cold water once you are done and do this twice or thrice a week if you want to get rid of dark knees and elbows.

Coconut Oil

You may already have a bottle of coconut oil in your home to use on your hair. Use can use the same coconut oil to give your skin the winter glow that your heart so desires. The oil is rich in fatty acids and antioxidants and it can serve as a moisturizer, and as sunscreen for your skin.

Your skin can stay acne-free if you are willing to give it the nourishment of coconut oil every once in a while. If you really want to give your skin the best ever treatment, get a bottle of extra virgin coconut oil and massage your skin with it regularly. You can warm up the oil a little bit so that it is lukewarm and that will help it penetrate your skin better.

Coconut oil is great because it is completely natural, suits all skin types, and can do much more for your skin than normal moisturizers. Since you use the oil to massage your skin, the blood circulation of your skin also improves which can also give your skin a better glow.

Drink A Lot of Water

We all know that we need to drink water but not all of us drink as much water as we need to. This can lead to various health problems along with dull and drier skin. And since it is winter, your skin will have a much higher chance of getting dry due to the cold air. So, you better compensate by drinking enough water to keep your skin properly hydrated.

Water has a big role in keeping your skin nice and hydrated. Yes, your skin does secrete natural that can keep your skin moist, but your skin also needs water. Without water, it gets duller and drier which is why you need to drink enough water.

Water also plays an important role in flushing out all of the toxins from your body. When your body stays clear of all the toxins and impurities, your skin also glows. You suffer from problems like acne and pimples less, and you also feel healthier. So, don’t skip drinking enough water according to your weight and body type.

Get Enough Sleep

Do you see those dark circles under your skin? They are the result of you skipping a good night’s sleep. There is a reason they call it beauty sleep, it’s because not getting enough sleep can affect your beauty or skin.

When you don’t get the sleep your body needs, you are much more likely to suffer from acne and pimples. As we mentioned, dark circles and other dark spots can also appear on your skin when you don’t sleep enough. All of this can really bring down the brightness of your skin.

To avoid all this, just go to sleep early and spend at least 7-9 hours in your sleep. Your skin and your overall health will benefit when you get proper sleep.

Eat Right and Glow Both from Inside and Out

What you put into your body not only affects how you feel and how healthy you stay, it also affects how your skin looks. If you eat fresh and healthy food, your skin will also look bright and healthy. Similarly, eat oily, heavy, and junk food, and your skin will suffer.

If you really want beautiful glowing skin, you’ve got to control what you eat. Indulging every once in a while is fine but make sure that most of your diet consists of fresh and healthy food prepared with green vegetables. Replace your sugar cravings with fruits and smoothies and not only will you see your body losing weight, but you’ll also see your skin glowing and getting clearer.

Conclusion

If you do all these beauty DIY for glowing skin in winter season, no matter whether it is winter or summer, your skin will definitely glow. Since the winter air can make your skin drier, you should layer up whenever you go out. Keeping most of your skin covered will not only save you from the cold but will also keep your skin from getting too dry. Gloves and socks are your best friend in the winter.

Moisturize regularly since your skin needs it a lot more in the winter. And go the DIYs, one or two are enough, but if you are really dedicated try them all out and keep the ones that you love the most in your beauty routine.
